Nervous Patients » Sedation

  • We have the experience, expertise and facilities within the practice to offer Conscious Sedation. Sedation is a specialised technique where a sedative is administered through an intravenous cannula. You still maintain all your vital and responsive reflexes, e.g. coughing, breathing and swallowing. Most people find Sedation a pleasant and acceptable way of receiving dental treatment for fillings or difficult extractions of teeth. During the procedure you will feel peaceful and unaware of what is going on, in fact most patients do not remember anything about their treatment at all as the sedative drugs causes memory loss. We have found that at the end of treatment, while recovering, some patients experience double / blurred vision / children sometimes might be tearful, upset and confused - this is transient and not to be concerned about.
